Pulsatile thrombus evacuation from the false lumen of an occluded carotid artery in acute aortic dissection

نویسندگان

چکیده

Herein, we present a case of aortic dissection with right carotid artery occlusion that was treated successfully thrombus evacuation from the false lumen occluded during hemiarch replacement. This procedure is performed two maneuvers: aggressive retrieval innominate circulatory arrest and common through right-neck incision heart beating. In this alternative method, thrombi can be evacuated more naturally briskly, utilizing pulsatile flow.

Residual flow in false lumen of chronic descending aortic dissection

A 58-year-old male patient has a history of a Stanford type A aortic dissection running up to the left common iliac artery for which a composite aortic valve graft replacement was performed approximately three years ago. This time, the patient presented with fever and chills. We performed a transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), which excluded vegetations. Upon retracting the TEE probe, the de...

Management of Retrograde False Lumen Perfusion After Hybrid Arch Repair in Acute Aortic Dissection.

Patients with acute aortic dissections involving the arch and descending aorta can effectively be treated using the frozen elephant trunk technique. We describe here the novel technique of temporary banding of the descending aorta onto the stent of the hybrid graft in 3 patients who developed unmanageable bleeding from the distal suture line due to retrograde false lumen perfusion and disintegr...

False Lumen Status in Patients With Acute Aortic Dissection: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

BACKGROUND The long-term association between the status of the false lumen and poor patient outcomes in acute aortic dissection (AAD) remains unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated whether the status of the false lumen was a predictor of poor long-term survival in AAD. METHODS AND RESULTS Eleven cohort studies (2924 participants) exploring the association between the f...

Clotted false lumen: reappraisal of indications for medical management of acute aortic dissection.

Evidence of a clotted false lumen in patients with acute aortic dissection has been considered to be a primary indication for medical rather than surgical therapy. A review of recent publications shows that 14 of 15 such patients survived with medical management. We present three patients who had radiographic, surgical, or necropsy evidence of acute aortic dissection with a clotted false lumen,...

Total arch replacement with an open stent graft for acute type A aortic dissection: fate of the false lumen.

OBJECTIVE To describe the fate of the false lumen remaining in the descending thoracic aorta after extensive primary repair of the thoracic aorta by the modified elephant trunk technique with a stent graft for acute type A aortic dissection, particularly the changes of the false lumen on enhanced CT scanning. METHODS The subjects were 65 consecutive patients who received arch replacement with...
